Nothing happens when using command that use the Alt key in Blender. This is because of the window manager (I fixed this in the 64bit version but not 32bit version must have missed it sorry, this is what testing versions are for though). Click on Window Manager Tweaks under the settings section of the menu. Now click on the accessibility tab change "Key used to grab and move windows:" to another key, super for example which means the Windows key on most keyboards. Close this window reopen Blender and everything should work fine.
